| Portsmouth Woodcraft Folk
is a child centred organisation open to all children and
young people in the Portsmouth area. We meet in the Buckland
area of Portsmouth. We run four groups that cater for
all ages. The Butterfly Woodchips is a Parent & Toddler
group for the 0-5 year olds. The Blue Sky Elfins is for
6-9 year olds. The Peaceful Pioneers is for 10-12 year
olds and the Truth Seeking Venturers is for 13-16 year
olds.
As well as running group nights, that include playing
games, doing art and craft activities, drama, music
and singing etc, we also have a strong focus on outdoor
activities. We run a summer camp and a weekend camp
each year; we run day trips during school holidays and
on some group nights. There are also chances for groups
to go hostelling and on international exchanges. We
also like to organise activities with other Woodcraft
Groups.
Our groups are run by parents and volunteers leaders,
who are CRB checked. We are always looking for others
adults to join us as leaders. No formal qualifications
are necessary but liking kids and good sense of humour
is essential. Access to training is available via different
sources.
